Histotechnician

Job description

Peachtree City Dermatology operates its own dermatopathology laboratory — the biopsies our providers take are processed, sectioned, and stained in-house and read by our board-certified dermatopathologist, Dr. Paul Haun. We are seeking a Histotechnician to join the lab team that makes that possible. This is skin histology at a dermatology practice's pace: high volume, small specimens, tight turnaround, and a pathologist working at the bench with you, not in another building.

Key responsibilities

• Accession, gross, and process dermatologic specimens with meticulous attention to identification and orientation.
• Embed tissue and cut high-quality sections on the microtome, including precise sectioning for margin evaluation.
• Perform routine H&E staining and special stains; support immunohistochemistry (IHC) workflows.
• Maintain equipment (processor, embedding station, microtome, stainer), reagents, and daily QC logs.
• Follow CLIA, OSHA, and laboratory safety and quality standards; participate in proficiency testing.
• Track cases so every specimen is accounted for from bottle to slide to report.

Qualifications

• HT or HTL (ASCP) certification preferred — or certification-eligible with documented histology training and experience.
• Hands-on microtomy experience; dermatopathology or Mohs laboratory experience is a strong plus.
• Working knowledge of tissue processing, embedding, routine and special stains.
• Careful, methodical work habits — in this lab, precision is patient care.
• Comfortable in a small-team environment where reliability matters every single morning.
